Silky arrived at MHR&S in December of 04 from Colorado. She was completely bald. Her former owner had test after test run on her and she came here with 38 pages of vet records indicating all tests that had been run on her. We even went as far as to have more blood work drawn and sent to UC Davis to try and find out what caused this and what we needed to do for her. In the winter months she was blanketed, and in the summer months sun screen and fly sheets were placed on her. The results from Davis gave no indications as to the problem. Cozyhorse.com makers of custom horse blankets made and donated an artificial tail for her with special strapping to hold it in place. We began bathing her weekly with baby shampoo and a soft brush stimulating her skin and all of a sudden we started seeing little sprouts of hair. Here she is as of July 9, 2011, with hair and very content in her herd environment.
