For Shiloh

Dear Shiloh,

Though you are no longer here with us in body, you will be forever here in spirit.

I remember when I first met you in March of 2001, not long after the gates opened for MHR. I was truly taken by you and Ace, your companion who joined you at MHR. I knew you were going blind, and I, being new to a blind horse, had to learn to help you cope with the changes occurring daily for you. I knew when you were frightened, and knew that having a buddy would be comforting to you.

We grew together, we learned together. When Ace crossed the Rainbow Bridge on 12/12/02, we comforted one another. We continued to bond. We tried to partner you up with so many different horses, but the connection was not there.......

Along came General, who suffered abuse and was totally blind due to this abuse. You both hit it off with one another. The missing piece of the puzzle. There was a true bond with you both. You found comfort in his companionship, giving us joy in watching you both.

You were an amazing horse Shiloh, your blindness never stopped you. You learned to trust me as you learned to lunge by voice commands. You were truly a treasure.

You are whole now...never to suffer again. You are forever in our hearts my dear many were lucky to meet you girl and they to loved you.

Your spirit will live on here Shiloh. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to care and love you these last eight years.

Shiloh, 1984-2009

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Shiloh, 25yo blind appaloosa mare. Shiloh (Shy Girl) has been with us since 2001 and was one of our first rescues. She died unexpectedly and peacefully in her sleep during the night. Rob found General, her roommate of 5 years, standing over her body this morning.

Shiloh is free and sees again. Sleep well, sweet sweet girl.

What a week it's been!

It has been a joyous week with Justice being born on the 25th. Faith and Justice's vet visit on the 26th with a clean bill of health for both. It has been great playing with him and the beginning teachings of human and horse interaction, which he is quite receptive to.

All is good here with all the other horses. Marigold is doing great, and Destiny is growing to be so handsome. I will have more photographs over the weekend.

Everyone have a great and safe weekend

Operating hours of the Justin Cam will be from 8am PDT - 9pm PDT starting 5/29/09

Thursday, May 28, 2009 - Spirit is 2!!

You came into this world full of vim and vigor. With each day you pose many challenges for your humans, but your zest for life & antics keep us smiling.

Two years ago you showed yourself and you continue to do so.

Happy Birthday Spirit, I hope that you have many many more, never knowing the abuse and neglect that many horses have endured. Rise above it all and show the diginity and respect a horse should have and the SPIRIT which flows through the veins!

Faith and Justice had their official day after birth exam this afternoon.

Faith is in excellent condition. She had an exam to ensure that she had a good delivery and she did. No bruising or tearing. She is at an excellent weight now and Dr. Hadland does not want her to get any bigger, but to maintain her now. She had all of her shots today and did very well. Faith has really come a long way.

Justice was examined and is in perfect health. His joints are in good shape, heart and lungs are perfect and he has rumbling in his tummy. All systems are functioning correctly.

Dr. Hadland is very impressed with both of them, considering what Faith was like upon her arrival on 3/18/09.

So all is well in their world.

Thank you to everyone

Thank you so very much for your good wishes. It has been quite a journey for all of us, from the day Faith arrived 3/18/09 to the day she a gave birth to Justice @ 1:04am on 5/25/09...Memorial Day.

Memorial Day is a day where we remember that so many gave their lives for the freedom we have.

Who would have thought that the day I decided to name a colt Justice, that he would be born in the wee early morning hours of the day, that I think of sacrifices that many have given in order for us to share this Freedom together.

His full name is Faith's Justice, and he is living proof of Justice for Faith.
