Faith update, Wed afternoon, 9/30/09

Everybody,

I just called Stephanie for an update. Faith is doing fine, although she still hasn't pooped enough in Stephanie's opinion and in Dr. Hadland's. She's comfortable and ticked off about not being fed. 8-) Stephanie and Dr. Hadland are not worried. Stephanie is monitoring and keeping Dr. Hadland informed.

I'm sure Stephanie will be on when she can, but in the meantime let me say that Faith produced a bit of poop this morning. Stephanie will not feed her until Faith shows better results, but things are moving in the right direction! Thanks everybody.

Tuesday night, September 29, 2009

Update:

Faith had an impaction of the cecum more than likely brought on by stress of the move and the weaning.
» Dr. Hadland tubed her, gave her banamine, gave her a rectal...
» she's in her own stall. medical stall.
» stall is by the house.
» she will get no food until she poops.
» she was a good patient. god bless her.

The cecum or caecum is a pouch, connecting the ileum with the ascending colon of the large intestine.

She should be fine.

Tuesday evening, September 29, 2009

Update from the ranch:

Stephanie has called Dr. Hadland for Faith. Faith is off her food and Stephanie is uneasy. Dr. Hadland will be there this evening.

If you would like to help with this medical bill, your donations are welcome. Thank you.

Hello All,

The horses are all doing well, and have adjusted to the move very very well. Each one has settled in quite nicely.

Justice is doing great, he has handled the weaning the best of all of the youngsters that have been born here with us. He is playful and quite loving to say the least. He absolutely loves you to go into his stall with him and run your hand through his soft fur. He can bring a smile to anyone's face..I know he does mine.

It is amazing with the changes the horses have undergone and the dynamic changes to their herd that everything has gone as smoothly as it has. They have chosen their little groups within the football field, and it has gone so well.

The BBGs, Jonah and Whiskey are doing very well. They move along together. Jonah is generally not very far from Faith, and he does respect her space, however she will allow him to nuzzle her occassionally. When I was out with them yesterday evening, Jonah was right in my pocket, curious as to what I was doing, even if I was only in there looking at them.

Horses adjust so well to new environments which is just amazing. They take everything in stride, which is truly remarkable.

I hope that everyone has a wonderful day. I want to tell you thank you all for your patience and continued support in our efforts as it is truly truly appreciated.

More pictures from LindaNV

Weaning time for big boy Justice. I must confess when we pulled into MHR yesterday and I saw Faith and Justice together, I was relieved. I figured Stephanie postponed it for a while. Wrong. I was only there a few minutes when Stephanie informed me it was weaning day and my first thought was to get back in the car and leave. LOL All went well though and even though they were calling for each other at first, as the day went on, it slowed down and then stopped. Justice has the cutest softest little baby boy whinney. It will melt your heart.

Getting ready for the big move.

He needed just a little bit of coaxing...

Off we go to the big boy pen...
Looking at familiar faces -
Yummy!

Sometimes big boys need a little reassurance that everything is going to be OK...

Saturday night, September 26, 2009

Good Saturday Evening,

Well, it is a good night at MHR! All of the horses are with us!

We had a wonderful day with Linda and Roger, and they were a huge help in getting Apple and Jerri to the new home. Thank you very much!

Apple played a bit hard to get with Rob initially, but she finally figured she had better give in cause he was not giving up....never does. She loaded into the trailer w/o a bit of problem. However, wherever Apple goes Jerri must follow and we did not want Rob stuck in the trailer with Jerri fast approaching. Roger kept Jerri at bay for the time it took Rob to get out, and Jerri hopped right on in. Linda and I followed behind them and it was quite amazing to see the people looking into the trailer with these mammoth girls. They unloaded just as well, and greeted Faith briefly, before sauntering away. It is very quiet in their area tonight. I have Jonah and Whiskey in with the BBGs and that is working very well. Jonah is a bit smitten w/ Faith. I am sure in time he will weasel his way into her heart.

Linda was present for the weaning of Justice. It went very well. He has graduated from pull-ups to his Spidey Tidy Whities. He's a big boy now. There was a bit of calling out initially but that has since ceased. All is calm.

It is a good thing for all tonight, horses and humans alike.......peace.

We still have some things that must be brought over, but the major concerns and push are over.

We would like to extend our gratitude to everyone that has supported our efforts in this move.....THANK YOU to EVERYONE!!!

We will be talking soon...have a great Sunday!

Post from LindaNV after her visit today

Visiting MHR today was exciting (as usual) but I couldn't wait to get there to check out the new place and I was in awe of how much land there is - the new place couldn't be more perfect. The horses have so much more room, they are content and happy. Stephanie and Rob have everything organized and I am amazed at how much they have accomplised. Of course there will be upcoming projects but for the most part, horses and humans have been moved safely and it couldn't have gone better.

Sorry the photos are so small, photobucket was giving me fits. I'm going to post these two pictures and go back and try to enlarge the other ones.

This first photo is taken from the end stall looking all the way up towards where DJ's stall is to the right in the photo - off in the distance - trust me, he's there!

The next photo is taken standing at the back of the property where the rows of corrals/horses are - the house is off to the left and can you see the football team in the center of the picture? That's how much land there is! It's quite the walk....

Midday, Saturday, September 26, 2009

Update via telephone from Stephanie:

The W***ing has been accomplished. Apple and Jerri have arrived at their new address. No problems whatsoever! As a matter of fact, as Rob was taking Apple out of the Ladies Parlour, Jerri was so anxious to follow that Rob had to quickly slam the gate shut. Apple got right up on to the trailer, and so did Jerri! Voila.

Good Friday Evening to All,

Today was busy, moved more corral panels over, or shall I say the guys did. Set up the foaling stall (guys again). Moved more household items over, but the most exciting was moving Faith and Justice over.

Rob walked Faith right into the trailer without an ounce of problems. Justice was a big boy, had to help him figure out how to put front legs on the trailer floor and Rob helped his hiney in. First ever big boy trailer ride and he did great! They are both in the BBG's area. We decided to let him have one more night with mama and tomorrow will be the big day......WEANING.

We will be bringing Apple and Jerri over tomorrow. We do not anticipate any problems but they are horses so we can probably expect something. I should be able to post some pictures here real soon to share. We just need to be able to take a bit of a breather.

Well, we hope that everyone will have a safe and happy weekend!! Talk to you all soon.

Stephanie and Rob

Thursday evening, September 24, 2009

Good Evening All,

Today was very busy, we once again accomplished a great deal.

We finished up the BBG's Parlour...wheeewww! All sprinklers are up and running. Another 15 yards of 3/4 rock delivered and we spread some. More corrals set up, all water faucets winterized, horses fed and cared for (of course). Another long day but good work.

The exterior is coming to an end and will be glad when it is , however it will always be a work in progress as we all know.

MHR's new mailing address is 2091 W. Quail Run Rd., Pahrump, NV 89060. You may start sending your mail here if you like.

Thank you all for your continued patience during our transition. We would also like to thank you for your continued support of the horses and their needs.

We will talk soon!

Wednesday evening, September 23, 2009

Hello to All,

Sorry it has been awhile since I have posted an update on our progress. We have been very very busy. I do not even know where to start and it has not come to an end yet.

Turnouts are complete, and the BBG's and Justice are the last ones to bring over. The turnouts come equipped with their own sprinkler systems to hold dust down and as well as to cool horses off in the summer. There were a total of eight water faucets put in but it required 1400 ft of pvc pipe to connect it all to the source. That was finished today. We have poured over 1800 lbs of cement today to stabilize the posts in the BBG's Parlour. The posts have been painted green and we must put the chain on each one tomorrow. Once we are all settled, which I hope will be within the next two weeks, I will have Rob show me how to use his torch and then I can begin putting your initials and state on each post. Thank You so much for your support in everything and helping accomplish the purchase of the poles. Thank you as well for your support of our fundraisers and assisting in providing to the ongoing daily needs of the horses.

We are going to call it a night for now, but will be on sometime tomorrow evening to give another update.

Again many many thanks to all!

Stephanie and Rob

Update, Monday, September 21, 2009

Update from MHR:

I just had a quick call from Stephanie. All horses are now at the new property except for Jerri, Apple, Faith and Justice! The panels are in place for their areas and are waiting for the posts for support (and of course holes to be dug for the posts), the chains to attach them and the concrete to anchor them.

Thank you everyone who has donated to the post fund. It won't be long now!

Rob is going to build a chicken coop on the new property. Once that's done, the chickens will also be brought over. Nothing but the best for the all our MHR friends.

Can you imagine your "post combo" in the pictures?

Update 9/21/09

All the post/combos donated already have been attached to the panels in the football field areas. MHR needs more post/combos to complete the rest of the areas such as the Ladies Parlour Room.

So, now is your chance to become part of the ranch from the bottom up if you missed the opportunity the first time or you would like another post/combo in your honor or honor someone with their own initials and state carved into the post.

Please see ABR for more information.

Thank you!

Sunday morning, September 20, 2009

Good Sunday Morning,

Well, today we begin the first wave of moving horses over to the new property. It is going to be a busy day and I know that I will not have the ability nor the time I am sure to come online at all much during the day. We will be breaking down stalls, moving them over, setting them up, and so on and so forth.

I should be able to give you an update of progress this evening.

We hope that everyone has a wonderful day! Thanks for your thoughts and support

Stephanie and Rob

Friday evening, September 18, 2009

Good Friday Evening Everyone,

It has been a busy couple of days.

Today, we (Rob, My Parents and I) with the help of Brent (hole puncher) set 31 poles. The poles were set in the holes and a total of 1,860 pounds of cement was poured. They will set for 24 hours and then we must paint them and once we have gotten over there (real soon) and totally settled we will begin burning in each contributor's name/state into their pole. Thank you everyone so much for being supportive and understanding during this transition.

All the horses are doing well. They are taking this transition quite well. They love their food, so in this case, it is will move for food. ;)

Once again thank you ever so very much for everything.

Update on Nellie's arrival

The rancher in ND had not realized that Nellie was scheduled for pickup on September 19, and he hasn't as yet had the necessary blood work and paperwork done for her.

She is now scheduled for pickup on OCTOBER 1 and will arrive in Pahrump a couple of days after that.

We're waiting for you, Nellie!

The new property - September 17, 2009

All of these photos were taken yesterday, 9/16/09, they are from the very back of property looking towards the north. The up close photos of the panels and the houses and hay in the background is Shadow Mtn Feed

Been very busy but will take a breather in about a week...lol...I hope

The new ranch

This first photo is the gate leading into the property. The dirt and trees you are looking at is the BBG's Parlour.

The house is sitting amongst the trees. This dirt in the front is where Sigma Delta Hoof is going.

The long row of stalls will be going all the way in the very back, and they will have their own area to be turned out in for a few hours a day. Foaling stall will be back there with their own turn out. This will be an ongoing winter work in progress.

After a hard day of working, one must remain hydrated. Bruno and his water bottle.
Stephanie

Personalize a post

MHR is moving......

Posts, cement and chains are needed to help construct the pens and stalls. The post combos are to be utilized as a bracing for the panels for the new and improved football field and BBG's Parlour Room and other areas such as the Doc. Wilbur Maternity Wing. This will help stabilize the corral panels so they cannot move the panels.

The post combos are $15.00 a piece and you can have your initials and resident state hand burned/carved into the post.

This is a great and fun way to be part of the new ranch from the ground up and at the same time you will be helping to keep all the horses safe in their new home.

Read more about this on ABR.

Sunday morning, September 13, 2009

Good Sunday Morning to Everyone,

The move has began!

We have started with the human stuff first. We are making headway thanks to help from my parents, Jeff, Stacy, Karen and Paul. We figured we'd get the people stuff going over because once we start with the horses that will be non-stop.

We have the guys coming over today to pull up the green tumble weeds around the property first and then we will drag the property with the tractor in preparation for the horses moving over.

This is very exciting for all of us. There is a lot to do for the move and it will be a work in progress throughout the winter, but every bit of work is going to be so worth it for the horses.

It is a good positive move and we are very happy! Thank you to everyone for purchasing "Posts." We will be given the names and once they are up we will burn the names and your state on the posts which will have you with us all the time.

Again, thank you so much for all your support!!

Stephanie

Friday morning, September 11, 2009

Good Morning to All,

Well, we start a new beginning. One chapter closes and a new one opens.

Now we have to get the move over with. I am ready to get going, however everything must be done around Rob's work schedule. So we have some days that will go quick and others that will be slower.

I would like to say Thank You to everyone who has participated in the Post gathering. Your names and state will be burned into the post for all to see and the new chapter opens.

I am going to leave internet up for as long as I can, but at some point it will have to come down. But I will be in communication via phone with several of our friends who will keep you updated as to our progress.

We are very excited about the transition, but we know what it takes to get it all accomplished.

Again, thank you for the well wishes. We will keep you posted.

Wednesday, 09/09/09

Good Morning All,

Hope this finds everyone well.

With the impending move, we will be without internet services for a time. Everything has to be moved and I am not sure how long it will take to be reconnected. Hopefully, it will not take too long, but we never know around here in this neck of the woods. Along with this means no cam. We are going to attempt to make the transition as smooth as possible for everyone, but most importantly the horses. They just need to be cooperative, and this remains to be seen. :) I am so ready for this, as this fall and winter we will be busy with many many projects.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank each and everyone of you who have continued to support our efforts. I would also like to thank everyone for volunteering help during our move. It is appreciated. This is a big undertaking, but it is going to be nice once it is complete.

I do hope that everyone has a wonderful wonderful day!

I would also like to wish a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY to a friend, who I shall leave nameless at this time so that I am not the first to get scolded.

Stephanie

Little Bear, looking good!

This is a video that Ro took during her Labor Day visit. Little Bear looks great (and so do Spirit and Baby B).

Thank you Ro.

Sunday evening, September 7, 2009

Good Evening to All,

Well, the girls have left the building. We had a wonderful time. Lots of great adventure together. However, I think it only appropriate that they tell their own tales.

Despite having to deal with all the boxes around the house, they were real troopers.

They had their cameras just a clicking. I am tired but it is a good tired. LindaNV, Roger, LindaS, SusanE, Ro, Diane and Shannon, thank you ever so much for a wonderful time over this Labor Day. It was a much needed diversion.

I hope that everyone had a great holiday weekend!

Let the week start well for all and be safe.

Stephanie

Tuesday, September 1, 2009

Good Tuesday morning to all,

Been a while since I have been on....

We have all been there when you think everything is running smoothly and then a bump in the road. Nothing ever goes as planned. We are slated to close on or before September 25th. Let's hope that its sooner, as I am ready to go.

Dr. Hadland will be here at approximately 2pm today for Faith. We suspect that Faith has an abscess on right front. She is going to be sedated and hopefully work can be done on the foot. Rob was out of work for almost two months four years ago from a sedated draft horse, but this could happen with any horse and it was with Dr. Hadland at that time as well. We will never forget that day or the next two months following.

Little Bear is doing great, Marigold and Hagan just hang out together and enjoy each other's company. All of the horses are doing quite well I must say, better than the human aspect. I have been meaning to get pictures done but it seems always something comes up and I am jumping in the truck running paperwork back and forth.

Just wanted to let you all know that everything is progressing as it should.. Will have the gang out here this weekend to assist in other areas, and of course loving on and handing out treats to the horses.

We will talk soon!!!!

Stephanie
