Two new arrivals

MHR is expecting two new arrivals this week.

A rescue in Washington state has found it necessary to disperse its herd. One of our supporters has been in love with one of the horses and asked us if we could find room. Other supporters joined with her to finance the trip. As it turns out, the little man, Destiny (a 10 mo old colt), has a best friend. Her name is Marigold, a 36yo jenny mule.

We are fortunate to have very good transporters for this long journey. They have been careful of both their wards. As a matter of fact, at this time they are letting the two equines rest at their own ranch before starting the last leg of their journey tomorrow, Wednesday.

I spoke with the driver yesterday afternoon. He stated that both Marigold and Destiny were enjoying the sunshine, and as we spoke he stated that Marigold was walking around with a tumbleweed in her mouth.

They are both eating and drinking well. Marigold is moving well after her travels Sunday. Destiny is doing real well. I was informed they are gracious guests.

On Friday the 13th, Dr. Adam Hadland, DVM will be here at 12:00pm to give both Destiny and Marigold a complete physical.

Destiny has a right pastern issue. This was an injury he sustained at a month old and was never treated by the former owners. He was turned over to Mustang Hearts. Dr. Hadland was here last week and he had the opportunity to read over the X-ray report from WSU where Destiny was taken to evaluate the injury and possible treatments. It will be at this time that Dr. Hadland will determine which direction he wants to go for treatment for Destiny.

According to the hauler Destiny has been very alert, vocal and even JUMPED out of the trailer upon arrival at their lay-over location. Marigold is doing real well.

Marigold will be given a physical. We know that she had been on Legends before and that had been discontinued since it wasn't working for her any longer. She was then switched to another product. We will follow Dr. Hadland's recommendations as to the requirements for Marigold and Destiny.

We are looking forward to meeting our two new friends very much.
